You must have seen or experienced that while pulling you over to check you traffic police cops take out your vehicle’s key and we think it’s in their power to do so that they can do so but in reality it is not the case. According to Motor Vahan Act they don’t have any right to ask you for your vehicle key for inspection and even it’s illegal to do so. According to one RTI a police officer of any rank can not ask for your vehicle key.
आपने देखा या अनुभव किया होगा कि ट्रैफिक पुलिस पुलिस वाले आपकी जांच के लिए आपको खींचते समय आपके वाहन की चाबी निकाल लेते हैं और हमें लगता है कि ऐसा करना उनकी शक्ति में है ताकि वे ऐसा कर सकें लेकिन वास्तव में ऐसा नहीं है। मोटर वाहन अधिनियम के अनुसार उन्हें निरीक्षण के लिए आपसे आपके वाहन की चाबी मांगने का कोई अधिकार नहीं है और यहां तक कि ऐसा करना अवैध भी है। एक आरटीआई के अनुसार किसी भी रैंक का पुलिस अधिकारी आपके वाहन की चाबी नहीं मांग सकता।
