A ride-hailing driver, on his way to pick up a passenger in Bayan Lepas, rammed into a police roadblock set up at the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway, in George Town, this morning, Thursday, March 19.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the 8.10am incident. However, a signage, five police cones and two beacon lights were damaged in the incident.
Northeast district police chief Assistant Commissioner Soffian Santong said the incident is believed to be caused by the negligence of the driver, who admitted to using his cell phone while driving.
The driver was not driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the incident.
