In this video, I wanted to highlight the different worlds in which people in our country live. Too often, we white folk convince ourselves that the fist half of this video is what life is really like for everyone – while our fellow black and brown countrymen live with the fear and injustice of the second half. It’s why we say Black Lives Matter and not all lives matter – because it is important to recognize that the world we live in does not operate as if all lives matter. This video shows all manner of life forms – from plants, to animals, to white people – getting to live through all of life’s phases uninterrupted (even left in peace at protests). In direct contrast are moments from George Floyd’s arrest, BLM protests where police showed up in riot gear, and Keeden Bryant’s moving song. The contrast should be unsettling, disconcerting, heartrending and move all of us to action.
