Police are warning that planned youth “takeovers” at local malls in Los Angeles County could be in the works for Saturday.
In a statement posted on social media, the Torrance Police Department said youth from around Los Angeles County are planning to take over the Del Amo Fashion Center on Saturday. The Carson Sheriff’s Station received information about a potentially “disruptive youth gathering” at South Bay Pavilion, also known as the Carson Mall.
The sheriff’s station said it’s coordinating with the pavilion to be prepared for the potential gathering. Torrance police chief Jay Hart pointed toward last week’s gathering at The Pike Outlets in Long Beach, where about 200 young people gathered for a planned fight between two females.
“Any unruly, unsafe, harmful or criminal behavior will not be tolerated,” the post reads. “We ask that all persons of leadership, including guardians and parents, take time to talk to our youth about the harmful behavior these events can lead to.”
