Roadblock, troops in tense Nairobi shantytown

(12 Aug 2017) Police clashed with protesters in the Nairobi district of Kibera on Saturday, after Kenya’s presidential election results were announced, naming Uhuru Kenyatta as President for a second term.
Opposition supporters burned tyres and blocked roads while armed police chased them away using tear gas.
The election commission rejected claims by opposition candidate Raila Odinga, a former prime minister, that its database was hacked and results manipulated against him.
The long wait for election results increased tensions in the nation of 45 million people, though the commission by law had until 15 August to announce them.
At least three people were killed in clashes between police and opposition supporters this week.
