On December 14th, 2023, officers in Florida responded to a disturbance at a local restaurant. Upon arrival, deputies encountered a heavily intoxicated woman who was unsteady on her feet. Coworkers attempted to assist the woman in finding a ride home but faced difficulties due to her recent change of address. After identifying her address through official databases, an Uber was ordered to take her home. However, the woman refused to cooperate, initially opting to use the restroom but then returning to the bar and declaring she would not leave.
The situation escalated when the woman ignored further pleas from the officers and called them several expletives. Fire Rescue was called to check for any injuries, and during their evaluation, the woman became increasingly combative, flailing her arms and nearly striking a paramedic. Despite multiple attempts by officers and rescue personnel to help her stand, the woman slapped an officer across the face. This prompted her arrest for striking a law enforcement officer during the performance of duty.
While in custody in the back of the patrol car, the woman offered the officer $1,000 to let her go, stating it was all she had. This bribe attempt was noted, and the woman faced additional charges. The suspect was charged with Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer and Bribery of a Public Servant.
