Rioters have clashed with police in Sunderland, with at least one car overturned and a police van attacked.
The disorder follows violence earlier this week in Southport, where three young girls were stabbed to death.
In Sunderland, men draped in England flags threw projectiles at police and chanted in support of the far-right activist Tommy Robinson.
Videos on social media appeared to show a police station set on fire.
