Sir Keir Starmer issued a brutal warning to ‘far-right thugs’ becoming involved in scenes of violence and unrest across the UK in recent days.
The Prime Minister warned that anyone who is taking part in the violence will ‘regret it’ and that offenders will face ‘the full force of the law’.
On Sunday (August 4), there were riots in Middlesbrough and Rotherham.
Hundreds of far-right protesters squared up to police shields at Middlesbrough’s Cenotaph, throwing bricks cans and pots at officers as a Holiday Inn housing asylum seekers was stormed by crowds.
In Bolton, bottles and ‘missiles’ were thrown at cops who descended on the town centre to manage an ongoing protest, with a dispersal order later put in place by police.
It followed further unrest on Saturday (August 3) in towns and cities such as Hull, Liverpool, Stoke-on-Trent, Nottingham, Bristol, Manchester, Blackpool and Belfast, which saw several police officers injured.
