I would not want to give my name to go on some report penned by a cop. I already know that how something is presented sways the reader one way or another. For example if the cop writes “subject is not co-operating” the reader might assume “the subject” is acting childish and rude. But if the writer pens “subject began to exercise his fifth amendment right to remain silent”, the reader would then assume something completely different than what one would assume from the first scenario. We the People should understand which side of the blue line that those writing the reports consider us to be on. Let me give you a hint. It is not on their side of it. No matter how compliant, co-operative or considerate we are- nor how many times we tell them how much we appreciate them, you are not on their side of that blue line. You are nothing but a mere civilian- a pleb, someone they have to “deal with ” instead of “to serve”. They have been trained to lie and behind that sweet cherub of a grin they are displaying, they are really thinking, “I hate this god-damned civilian wasting my time. I guarantee that people will read this and see the video yet still give up their ID’s because they have nothing to hide. Actually, even if it is inconvenient and your record is clear, that is the best time to refuse to ID. That helps those who do not know their rights or are too scared to not comply. If only 80% of people they ask for an ID would just say, “No officer you can not have my ID”, that simple act of saying “no” might persuade them to not even bother to ask for ID’s anymore. And THAT helps that poor guy who is afraid of the police.
