Political journalist Ava Santina says UFC great Conor McGregor being investigated over a social media post sets a dangerous precedent.
Irish police are reportedly investigating Mr McGregor’s social media posts following concerns about rising hate speech online after the riots in Dublin.
Riots have engulfed the country following the stabbing of five people in Dublin, among them three children, allegedly by an immigrant who was meant to be deported years ago, but was then granted citizenship.
Conor McGregor is someone who likes to put himself in the middle of everything,” Ms Santina told Sky News Australia host Piers Morgan.
“The thing that concerns me … is that to Tweet something and then be investigated for it frightens me because it’s setting a quite dangerous precedent.
