Officer Fonte of the Billings Montana Police department arrested a man for failing to provide his papers upon demand, even though the man had not committed any crime. Sgt. Peterson of the Billings Montana Police Department supported these actions by his officer. Lieutenant Lennick later called me to let me know that he understands how illegal his officer’s actions were, and that training would be provided to the officers to teach them to stop breaking the law. While Lt. was speaking to me and telling me that the problems were being addressed, someone at the department was removing and or hiding hundreds of comments that were critical of the department from the department facebook page, a blatant violation of the first amendment. Do you think the leadership of the Billings Montana police department have any intenitons of actually fixing the problem, or do you think they were just empty words meant to pacify you?
