Ten years ago, the Lantian government approached me asking for help in development of their water resources. Hydrologists had told them that there was a good source of mineral water flowing to the county. with luck, they could tap it.
County officials introduced me to the manager of a fruit juice factory, who had recently taken over a failed soybean factory. The hydrologists told us that a well drilled on the grounds of this factory had a good chance of striking high quality mineral water. They were right.
I assembled a team of partners, technical experts and a venture capital company to support our venture. We have been in continuous operation for over ten years in often trying circumstances.
The original leaders of Lantian County with whom I dealt were honest and honorable. Sadly they moved on, and they have been replaced by a network corrupt public officials who work closely with a criminal gang.
The threats started in a small way several years ago. Members of a criminal conspiracy wanted to become partners in our joint venture. We refused.
Now all of our work looks like it will be destroyed by this criminal gang working closely with corrupt public officials in Lantian County: a vice mayor, the mayor, the head of the industrial park. a local police station, a corrupt Lantian judge, a corrupt Xi’an judge, the head of the land burear and the head of the housing (buildings) bureau.
