On May 22, 2023. A deputy from the Walworth County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call from a woman who stated that her drunk brother (James) had just poured sugar into her gas tank and left her a threatening voicemail. Deputy’s arrived and spoke with James who admitted to pouring sugar in his sister’s vehicle’s gas tank. While retrieving his ID inside of the residence, James wanted to drink a beer and refused commands to set the drink down. He resisted when deputies tried to detain him and got taken down. Deputies were able to handcuff him but while leaving the house he resisted and got taken to the ground again. An officer from the Linn Police Department met with his sister who said James had poured sugar in her gas tank and showed the officer a voicemail that he had left her. In the voicemail you could hear James making multiple threats towards his sister’s property and her pet ducks. A PBT test revealed that James had a Blood Alcohol Concentration of .350. He was transported to the hospital before going to the county jail. James was found guilty for Resisting or Obstructing an Officer. He was sentenced to 18 months of Probation, ordered to complete 25 hours of Community Service, and pay $1183 in fines.
