There are tiny buildings still standing across the state. Many of them were used as calabooses, also called tiny jails. Michael Mayes, SHPO’s National Register of Historic Places/Historic Preservation Specialist, will examine Oklahoma’s calabooses and discuss how the state tackled crime decades ago, the integrity of resources, the Oklahoma Landmarks Inventory, and the National Register of Historic Places and its criteria.
