CENTAC 26 MIAMI was a special operations unit organized by the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) that targeted the rampant narcotics trafficking that was turning Miami into a bullet riddled, body-strewn no-man’s land of lawlessness in the 1980’s. Miami had become the drug-running Cocaine capital of the nation, and the drug pipeline into the US from South America with cocaine trafficking and murder rates breaking records. There were dealer turf wars, billion-dollar deals gone bad: As the cocaine cowboys, who acted as enforcers for the Colombian cartels, shot it out in malls; multiple-fatality massacres led the 6 o’clock news almost every night, it seemed, turned Miami into the wild wild west. Citizens were scared. Centac veteran Detectives Jorge Plasencia, Al Singleton and Rick Diaz were on the front lines of the Drug Wars in Miami for over ten years during that time. The unit’s detectives tracked down the most notorious drug-kingpins in the city: La Madrina (Godmother) – Griselda Blanco; Cocaine Cowboy – John Roberts; Falcon and Malguta, Myer Lansky’s mafia and the corrupt Miami River cops, to name a few. A vivid cast of hyper-real characters They witnessed the unspeakable horror that literally took over this city by the sea. These crime stories are told through the lens of these investigators who cracked the case and convicted these drug lords. Written and developed by Mo Fitzgibbon 2019 (c)
