Florida is one of the rare states that requires two-party consent to record. I have been watching as events unfold in Florida for the last few years, anticipating that the courts would rule on the matter in the same manner the 1st Circuit Court did with the Glik case. It looks like that time has come, and citizens are now free to record police officers in the performance of their duties.
For those boot-licking apologists that revert to the knee-jerk response of “the cop was not properly trained” would do well to note that this is a Lieutenant, not some newbie patrolman fresh out of the academy. There is no excuse for a ranking officer to be unaware of policy of this nature, and I would love to be a fly on the wall when this case makes it before a jury Synopsis: girlfriend gonna get paid!
