Taking the LONG WAY around the Big Sur Landslide was brutal. 145 miles of riding to get to our first stop. The great American coastline is a 10-episode miniseries where I embark on an insane adventure: Attempting to be the fastest human to ride a bicycle from the border of Canada to the border of Mexico along the West Coast.
////FAQS & DETAILS
1. **The Current Fastest Time:** The current fastest known time for this project is 12 days and 12 hours. I’m aiming to break that record with projected goal of 8-9 days.
2. **Self-Supported:** The project is classified as self-supported, meaning that I’ll be responsible for everything myself, but I can still receive assistance from the general public or trail Angels if needed.
3. ** FILM EVERYTHING** I will be filming everything during this trip, the highs and lows, and everything in between. This will pose as the greatest challenge for me because just simply riding my bike from Canada to Mexico is not my main focus, it’s about telling the story. I also did in real time instagram stories and posts + photography so the day DOESNT END when I get to a hotel. There’s hours of work but this is how I am able to finance this trip so…

///// RECAP
The night before trying to cross around the landslide I did a ton of research and went deeper into peoples account of the trail. I was hoping to do. I also got help from the community. Some random dude was helping me at midnight, trying to figure it out. long story short my two options were not viable. The 13 mile hike, which I was confident I could do. I wasn’t even able to attempt it because it’s just after the roadblock. And they’re not letting anyone pass the roadblock obviously.
So I backtracked up to Carmel Valley and over to Cayucos through Paso Robles. Today was a big day. I mean they’re all big days but this one I got out a little bit late and so I really needed to have some luck on my side. And luck I had, once getting out of Carmel Valley I had a raging tailwind pretty much all the way into Cayucos.
Without that tailwind, this ride is taking 14 to 15 hours. Some very thankful that Mother nature shined down on me today.
