President Uhuru Kenyatta ordered the cessation of movement for the counties of Nairobi, Kiambu, Machakos, Kajiado and Nakuru. Police placed a roadblock at Bluepost Hotel to prevent people getting into Murang’a county.
He addressed the nation from Statehouse Kenya about the state of the economy and health. He was expected to talk about gatherings, schools, churches, curfew, transport sector and vaccine distribution.
He added more regulations to reduce the spread as cases in the country increase.
Ministry of health officials have alleged that Kenya might be going through a third wave.
This comes after Raila Odinga was admitted at Nairobi Hospital.
DP Ruto and Tangatanga leaders stopped holding rallies.
President Kenyatta speech comes at a time when the handshake BBI politics are dominating, as Jubilee Party experiences wrangles that have led to the formation of the UDA Party.
There are also by-elections looming like in Juja constitutiency.
