On August 14th, 2023, the Orlando Police Department responded to a battery call at The Orlando International Airport. An inbound American Airlines flight from Philadelphia called for police to meet the aircraft due to a battery that occurred on the flight. A flight attendant witnessed the suspect engage in an altercation with his partner. When the flight attendant intervened the suspect attacked the flight attendant as well.
An off-duty corrections official on the flight volunteered to assist detaining the man with the flight attendant, and he was zip-tied and held down in the rear galley of the aircraft for the remainder of the flight until police arrived to arrest him.
