KUALA LUMPUR: The arrest of an e-hailing driver and seizure of 1.68g of syabu led police to unravel a drug and illegal online gambling syndicate. Police seized 14kg of syabu and 205g of ecstasy in subsequent raids and arrested 18 syndicate members. Bukit Aman Narcotic Crimes Investigation Department (NCID) director Comm Datuk Ramli Din said the e-hailing driver was detained at a roadblock in Sungai Besi on April 12. “When questioned, the driver revealed that the sender was a man named John and the package was meant for a man in Salak Selatan. We raided the location and arrested three men and three women. We discovered that the syndicate was also running an illegal online gambling business. “We seized two laptops, four monitors, 16 sim cards and nine mobile phones” he told a press conference in Bukit Aman on Friday (April 17).
