On July 23, 2023. A Deputy from the Brown County Sheriff’s Department received information that there was a vehicle stopped in the middle of the road. When the deputy located and approached the vehicle, the driver (Duane) was unresponsive and slumped over with the engine running and in gear. Another deputy arrived and they parked in front of and behind the vehicle. The driver woke up after the deputies pounded on his windows. When the driver woke up he hit the gas pedal crashing into a squad car and pushing it into a ditch. Duane fled for a short period of time before pulling over at a stop sign where the deputies were able to detain him. A PBT test showed that Duane had a BAC of .190. He was taken to the hospital for a blood draw before being transported to jail. Duane was found guilty for “OWI (3rd), and Hit and Run” He was sentenced to 180 days in jail, his drivers license got revoked for 36 months and he was ordered to pay over $3400 in fines.
