On June 20th, 2024, Judge Peterson of Douglas County Probate was arrested at a nightclub for causing a major disturbance, verbally and physically assaulting others, and resisting arrest. Despite attempts by the responding officer to de-escalate the situation, she remained hostile, ultimately leading to her being charged with obstruction of justice, disorderly conduct, and simple battery. After being processed at the police station, her legal troubles worsened due to unrelated misconduct, resulting in the Georgia Supreme Court finding her guilty of 28 counts of willful judicial misconduct. This led to her being barred from holding any judicial office in Georgia for seven years, significantly damaging her career and public reputation.
