The intention behind making this film was to show how, since their arrival to the city of Medellín, internally displaced persons of armed conflict have been confronted by persistent conditions of social injustice. It became the story of “El Oasis” and the struggle of its residents against diverse cycles of violence and the inequitable access to land and law in Colombia. This film is for the residents of “El Oasis” in their search for a vivienda digna.
The film documents a series of forced evictions that took place in El Oasis, Medellín in 2015. Prior to filming, a number of houses had been demolished to make way for the construction of the Madre Laura Bridge. Many of these were home to families that had been previously displaced from rural regions of Colombia as a result of internal conflict. The film follows the stories of those affected by the evictions, as well as their clashes with riot police.
