Kurmanbek Bakiyev, Kyrgyzstan’s president, talks exclusively to Al Jazeera from Osh after fleeing violent clashes between anti-government protesters and riot police in the capital Bishkek.
Opposition leaders in Kyrgyzstan said on Thursday that they had seized power after taking control of security headquarters, state television and other government buildings following two days of unrest.
At least 75 people were killed on Wednesday and more than 1,000 were injured in clashes between the police and protesters.
