DANGEROUS DRIVING | After an exhaustive Labor Day weekend, Tampa Police said there were more than 1,100 traffic stops conducted, including a notable arrest.
The Tampa Police Department (TPD) said the goal of the weekend’s operation was to remind drivers of the importance of obeying traffic rules and sharing the road responsibly.
Police said the was an instance where officers responded to an attempted street takeover event near the Tampa Convention Center at 2 a.m. on Sunday. Aerial video shows a BMW sedan driving onto an intersection doing burnouts and slides in front of a large crowd before heading southbound on Franklin St. onto Harbour Island.
