47 adults and four children between the ages of 9 months and five years have been discovered by traffic officers in the trailer of a truck during a roadblock on the N1 in the Free State.
28 of them were found to be illegal immigrants from Lesotho.
They have been arrested for contravening the Immigration Act.
The truck driver has been charged with transporting passengers for reward without an operating license, and the vehicle is impounded.
Meanwhile, Deputy Police Minister Cassel Mathale led several roadblocks on the province’s major roads, where more than two hundred vehicles were pulled over and over four hundred people searched.
