Ahmed H. was sentenced to 10 years by a hungarian court for “terrorism“ and is being imprisoned in a Budapest jail, after a ridiculous trial that got international attention, with solidarity actions in Szeged, Malmoe, Vienna, Belgrade, Berlin, Budapest and other places. He is one of the “ Röszke 11“, those persons who got arrested and convicted from the crowd that was protesting for freedom of movement at the hungarian-serbian border in september 2016. That day the passage had been blocked from one day to another, more than 5000 people – most of them fleeing from war zones – where stuck there when the hungarian police brutally attacked with watercannons, teargas and a special „anti-terror“-unit.
The fact that Ahmed was constructed as a “leader“ of a crowd of strangers in retrospect and that he was made a public enemy by using heavy racist arguments is a unacceptable normality not only in Orban-landia but also in the whole of the EU.
The Röszke trial is revealing the reality of a system in which state and police violence is never put in question, and in which money and goods can move freely but not people: The terror is the state and his opression institutions. Ahmed has lodged an appeal against the court decision and is waiting for the second level court-trial.
The solidarity also goes to Yamen, another one of the Roszke 11 that is still behind bars. He was found guilty for “illegal bordercrossing“ and “participating in a mass riot“, sentenced for 3 years. As he also appealed against the court decision, his second level court hearing will be on the 27 of january 2017.
