In Washtenaw County, Michigan a vehicle is stopped pursuant to a traffic stop, during that traffic interaction, police officers approach the man sitting in the passenger side of the vehicle, they ask him for his identification on the basis that they believe that he may be a wanted man, with active warrants against him, the man riding passengers side profusely rebukes the notion that he has any outstanding warrants, however, police are determined to get to the bottom of their theory, after a request for a supervisor was denied by on-scene officers, the passenger was asked to exit the vehicle to which the man did comply, from here the man was placed into handcuffs and detained, at this point the man verbalizes to officers that he does not consent to any searches or seizures of his identity, or his property, to which officers ignore and removed the man’s drivers license from the inside of his pants pocket, from here they determine that indeed, he is not the man they had suspected with outstanding warrants, from here the man is released from police custody but not before the man fires back with his First Amendment protected commentary towards the officers and the actions that they just took against him.
