Officers were dispatched to the scene in response to a report of an accident with entrapment. Upon arrival, they observed a vehicle flipped onto its passenger side in the woodline off the road. Trapped inside the vehicle was Kiara Nolen, who was attempting to find a way out. Officers managed to open the sunroof and safely remove her from the vehicle. Once outside, Kiara tried to walk but stumbled, prompting officers to force her to sit on the roadway due to the seriousness of the crash.
Officers noted a strong odor of alcohol coming from Kiara, and she admitted to drinking. She claimed to be the passenger and said a man named “Tony” was driving, though no male or child (as she suggested) was found at the scene. Miya Jackson, a friend of Kiara, was also involved in the crash and had a serious head injury; she was taken to Akron City for treatment.
EMS arrived to evaluate Kiara, but she was uncooperative and refused to provide any information. While being moved to the back of the ambulance, Kiara became extremely combative, attempting to hit, scratch, bite, and kick both officers and EMS workers. She also jumped out of the ambulance, refused to stay inside, and made several threatening remarks, including racial slurs directed at officers. Multiple officers and EMS personnel were required to restrain her, disrupting the response at the scene.
Kiara was eventually taken to Akron General, where she was sedated by medical staff due to her violent behavior. Officers issued a pink slip because of the crash’s severity, her intoxication, and her aggressive actions. Due to her sedation, warrants were later signed for disorderly conduct (volatile and turbulent) and misconduct at an emergency.
