on July 2, 2024, In San Diego, California, a Highway Patrol motorcycle officer was monitoring traffic on Interstate-15 from Hillery Drive and detected a motorcycle speeding at 98 miles per hour with his lidar device. The officer attempted a traffic stop, but the motorcyclist refused to yield and fled at speeds exceeding 120 miles per hour. Multiple CHP officers could not catch up with the speeding motorcycle, prompting the call for a helicopter to track the rider. The helicopter followed the motorcyclist to his residence, where he tried to conceal the motorcycle in a garage. However, the aerial guidance allowed officers to locate the suspect, who was then arrested without further incident.
