Demonstrations in Hong Kong turned into chaos on Wednesday, June 12 as police fired tear gas, pepper spray and rubber bullets into crowds of protestors occupying the streets surrounding government buildings.
But protestors successfully disrupted the second reading of the extradition bill scheduled that afternoon chief executive Carrie Lam said on Saturday, June 15, that the bill will be “suspended indefinitely”.
It may seem like a victory for Hong Kong, but protestors are unappeased and want the full withdrawal of the bill.
Police also classified the protest a riot, meaning anyone involved could face up to ten years in jail.
this has further angered protestors who have practice restraint in exercising their rights to protest.
