It all began when Yelm police tried to control a car with altered plates. The driver fled, crossing Nisqually tribal territory at nearly 62 mph (100 km/h), even hitting another vehicle.
Nisqually tribal police officers joined the pursuit, puncturing two of the car’s tires. Despite this, the driver drove on, approaching the town of Lacey where traffic was heavy.
To avoid a more serious accident, Thurston County Sheriff’s deputies performed a high-speed PIT, causing the vehicle to crash into a tree.
The deputies administered first aid before help arrived. Once transported to the hospital, the driver was arrested. A search of his vehicle revealed several weapons.
