“Probably the vast majority still believe that the system can be reformed and tweaked here or there, and certain modifications can be made, and the police will just act better…without necessarily understanding that there are objective reasons why we get treated the way we get treated.
It’s not all just a matter of this police officer being bad, or being evil, or morally corrupt, or just having a negative view of Black people without taking into context, ‘what is the actual role that we have in this society?’. And how that is steadily being virtually eliminated and us moving from being surplus to wholesale disposable, and that the society is moving and pointing in that direction, and in many respects has to, because it can’t absorb more people. It’s not going to create the jobs to bring folks in. It’s not going to create the material conditions…
Can we struggle for clarity, political and ideological clarity, that gets us more along the page of understanding that:
a. The system can’t be reformed and
b. Our action has to therefore lead us toward the development of a program which is going to seriously…contest for power and transform the state and the economy”
