KELOWNA, British Columbia (AP) _ Police in riot gear arrested some 190 people and fired tear gas to disperse a rock- and bottle-hurling crowd of more than 1,000 festival-goers, authorities said. The riot began when Royal Canadian Mounted Police tried to arrest a young man for disorderly conduct in a park, authorities said. A crowd formed and jeered police, throwing bottles and cups and forcing officers to retreat. In the days following the riot, Kelowna came together to denounce the event and come up with ways to get the message out that this would not be tolerated in the city. Antonio Battista, a local musician wrote and recorded the Kelowna Pride song and with the help of the Shaw Cable staff produced a video for the song.
