Kolkata protests: Buses and other transportation services came to a standstill in the east Indian state of West Bengal after opposition BJP called a ‘Bengal Bandh’ in the wake of a rape-murder. The 12-hour shutdown will run from 6 am to 6 pm on August 28 to protest the police crackdown on students during a so-called ‘Nabanna protest’, a march to government headquarters in the capital Kolkata.
