KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thami Ntuli is calling for more police deployment to factional fighting hotspots.

They include areas such as Nongoma, Nquthu, Loskop in Estcourt and St Paul in Mzimkhulu.

Ntuli has also handed 36 vehicles to the South African Police Service (SAPS).

He says that the vehicles will be used to enhance police operations.

Ntuli adds that to ensure that maximum safety measures are put in place during the festive season and beyond, law enforcement has amplified the deployment of police officers and resources at recognised crime hotspots throughout KZN.

Our reporter Mlondi Radebe has more.
