On February 16, 2024, while patrolling West Main Street in Boonton, New Jersey, Officer Nicole Montemorano observed a vehicle recklessly passing another car across a double yellow line on an icy road. As Officer Montemorano attempted to pull over the reckless driver, both the suspect vehicle and the vehicle that was passed came to a stop (eventually).
This video documents the investigation and subsequent arrest of the driver for DUI, reckless driving, and failure to maintain lane. Shortly after initiating the stop, Officer Montemorano detected erratic behavior from the driver and radioed for backup. Officer Joseph Ferris, along with Sergeants Joseph Bolcar and Christopher Chicoris, arrived to assist.
After the driver’s arrest he was transported to the police station, where he refused to provide a breath sample. He was later released into the custody of a friend.
Court records indicate that the driver missed his arraignment but has been rescheduled for a court appearance later this month.
