Netherlands Police Deputy Commissioner Hanneke Ekelmans, from the force command team, says police officers faced anger and hostility during the pandemic which they had never experienced before:
“it’s not even about getting injured. Of course, it’s terrible. But colleagues ….told me that’s it’s the first time ….( they saw) in a demonstration, people in front of (them) who were there to hurt “them” , not because they’re mad at the government that whatever, but just there to hurt me. ”
“That’s that’s their only goal. ”
