Youths clashed with Police in the Ardoyne area of North Belfast today, after a Republican anti internment parade was prevented from entering Belfast city centre. This followed a ruling by the Parades commission which banned the parade from leaving North Belfast due to worries that protesters would clash with Loyalist counter demonstrators in the city centre.
Water cannons were deployed in the Ardoyne, alongside riot police to combat the petrol bombs, bricks and paint thrown by Republican youths.
