Police were called to a council meeting which had to be adjourned after a councillor was called a “Nazi” during a green belt row.
The Oldham Council meeting descended into chaos as impassioned councillors from different sides argued about the town’s participation in Greater Manchester’s controversial joint housing and business development plan.
In a heated debate, those in attendance accused the council of “gaslighting” the chamber in an act they said amounted to a “breach of constitution” by not opting out of the Places for Everyone (PfE) scheme.
