For 100 nights after the death of George Floyd at the hands of the Minneapolis Police, protestors took to the streets of Portland, Oregon, to loudly and sometimes violently voice their disapproval of the culture of systemic racism and corruption that has become synonymous with American policing. On Night 100, a massive crowd of people gathered in Ventura Park on the city’s northeast side to march about a mile to the Portland Police Bureau’s East Precinct. They never made it. A force of around a hundred riot police, composed of elements of PPB and the Oregon State Police, faced off with protestors in a pitched battle on Stark St. I documented the results with Jennifer Dowling of KOIN-TV in Portland.
