From the time capsule – May 1992: Following the riots which erupted in Los Angeles, California after four police officers were judged not guilty of brutality charges stemming from the beating of Rodney King during his arrest in March of 1991, the candidates for U.S. president came to the city to see and be seen reacting to the wreckage. President Bush and his challenger, Bill Clinton, used the moment to debate their viewpoints.
