GULF SHORES/ORANGE BEACH, Ala. (WPMI) Beach law enforcement officers are staying busy this spring break season, as alcohol related concerns are arising.
Sgt. Jason Woodruff says that patrols are constantly on the lookout for signs of underage drinking, public intoxication and disorderly conduct.
More verbal warnings have been given to beach goers who are seen drinking on the public beaches.
“Drinking is prohibited on the public beaches, but allowed on private property,” explained Sgt. Woodruff.
Spring breakers seem to catch on to the laws, creating so called party hot spots in front of condos and businesses.
“I was actually picking up beer cans from the beach, and throwing them to the kids, because they were leaving them in the water,” said Larissa Anderson, a visitor.
Police continue to crack down on underage drinkers. Dozens of citations have already been given out.
