Just before the concert, we found out that the Spanish national team was playing soccer in a World Cup qualifying match and all the university students would be away to organize their housing for school. So it looked like we would have a very small crowd, but miraculously around 300 people came according to the city official – and many more would have heard the preaching from surrounding apartment buildings.
During the concert, a drunk guy danced in front of the stage and mocked everything that was happening and many in the band felt a very heavy weight on them while they played.
The spiritual opposition was heavy. We were told that this was the first time (in recent history) the Gospel was preached in such a public way in this city.
Yet despite the opposition, many were deeply touched. The presence of God fell heavily during the preaching and many people raised their hands and prayed to receive Jesus. One older couple wept in my arms afterward and asked me to pray for them.
It was a very powerful example of the battle there is in Spain, but that Jesus is more powerful and people will give their lives to Jesus even in the most closed parts of the country.
