San Francisco Police wearing riot gear arrested over 100 people at an annual skating event in the city’s Mission District. Police say 81 of those arrested were minors charged with inciting a riot and remaining present at an unlawful assembly.
Every year, the ‘Dolores Hill Bomb’ attracts hundreds of spectators who gather to watch skaters ride down Dolores Street.
Police say they declared the unpermitted event an unlawful assembly after attendees began throwing bottles and shooting fireworks at them.
“A lot of onlookers were raising the point about overtime and resources. And is this the best use of the police force’s time?” said Joe Rivano Barros, an editor with Mission Local who covered the arrests.
