Are we safe?
Is Bengaluru safe for women?
Will you take a stand for women’s safety?
Today, women are shouting hoarse. The war cries are loud, engaged and energised that say “ We want to be safe, not to be RAPED, Give us freedom not Feardom, Stop violence against women, Let’s talk about women’s safety”.
Yes women are coming forward to use their voices and their influence to demand real change. Yet it feels at times that victimising women is some sort of a planet-wide policy.
Every single day single women, young girls, mothers and women from all walks of life are being assaulted, molested, and violated. The streets, public transport, public spaces in particular have become the territory of the hunters. While the ones already hunted down weep in silence or in disdain, the rest fight their way to a basic life with dignity. There is an unspoken war on the streets. We know the stories.
The Bangalore Political Action Committee has taken a stand to change these stories
Last year they built a community of citizens who call themselves AGENT B.SAFE.
Their job is to be watchful of any danger a girl or woman may encounter and report to the police.
They also sensitise and create awareness about what can be done in such a scenario for the safety of our women. Here is a small animation video we created to mobilise these inspired and noble volunteers.
This September it’s all about making people act
