Stamp Act Riots
In 1765 Parliament created a tax on printed materials.
Protests erupted.
Mobs attacked public officials’ homes and offices.
Protestors blocked streets from trade. Patriots tarred and feathered Loyalists.
Crowds and the Sons of Liberty forced the release of those arrested. Later, Parliament repealed the Stamp Act.
