As part of a Traveling Fellowship that I was granted from the Museum School at Tufts University, I traveled the states visiting LGBTQ+ monuments, memorial sites, and public gardens geared towards local queer communities. After visiting these towns and people, I began thinking about how our country was greatly affected by specific people like Silvia Rivera, the Stonewall riots, and the tragedy of Pulse nightclub. Meeting queer historians, activists, and nonprofits in these towns I realized that each community has their Stonewall moment, visionaries, and tragedies that shaped their communities.
