Throughout the Third Reich, the Nazis wanted to impose a huge amount of control onto the lives of people living inside of Germany. Because of this they banned a huge amount of things to perpetuate their policies and beliefs. The Reich Ministry of Culture banned books from certain authors and huge book burnings took place inside of cities. Also art which was said to have been modern was destroyed and vandalised, and music which was said to have been American inspired or Jazz was banned.
Cinemas were forced to show films which had been made by Joseph Goebbels’ film studios and these contained Nazi messages and even incited riots and hatred. But they also banned contraception, encouraged people not to eat certain foods and outlawed a number of other things.
