A Greenshoots Summer Project funded by Heritage Lottery fund. The project was designed to engage our young people with their communities through their exploration of riots that took place in Nottingham throughout it’s history. They researched the 1831 Reform Riots, the 1958 St. Anns race riots, The Hyson Green riots of 1981 and the recent disturbances surrounding the police shooting of Mark Duggan in 2011.
The young people produced film pieces and a full musical theatre production which were staged at The Nottingham Contemporary in August 2013. They were responsible for every single aspect of the production including script writing, song writing, dance choreography, scenery painting, costume design and production, film production and acting.
